Create Payment - Field Definitions

Step 1: Select a Template or the Type of New Payment – Create New Wire Payment

Select a template or create a new payment to Customer. Note: Payment to Bank is reserved for use by TD only.

Note: Only the Financial Details section of the payment can be modified when a payment is created from a template.

Step 2: Select On Behalf Of box and Enter/Review On Behalf Of information (if applicable)

  • The reference number assigned to your client or transaction

Step 3: Enter/Review Beneficiary Information

  • Specifies the company/individual receiving the wire payment
  • Maximum 35 characters*

  • Specifies the country of the Beneficiary

Step 4: Enter/Review Bank Information

Beneficiary Account Information (Mandatory)
Beneficiary's Account
  • Specifies the account to which the payment is to be deposited at the Beneficiary Bank.
  • If the Payment Destination selected was:
    1. TD Bank (CAD/USD only), there will be two fields displayed which require the following information to be entered – branch number (4 digits), account number (7 digits).
      Note: A predictive search will be enabled for the TD transit number field. Enter the transit number and then choose the correct transit number from the drop-down list. The TD branch address information will be automatically populated. You will then need to enter the correct account number (7 digits).
    2. Other Financial Institution, there will be one field displayed which allows maximum 35 characters.
    3. TD Global Operation Services, there will be one field displayed which allows maximum 35 characters.

Note: If you are provided an IBAN (International Bank Account Number), populate Beneficiary's Account Field with the IBAN.
Beneficiary's Bank Information (Mandatory)
Bank ID
  • Is the unique identification number associated with the Beneficiary Bank.
  • If TD Global Operation Services is selected, this field will automatically default to TD's Bank ID of 0004.
  • If Other Financial Institution is selected then:
    • Canadian Clearing (CC) Code is required for payments destined within Canada
    • FED ABA number is required for payments destined to United States
    • SWIFT/BIC Code is required for payments destined to Foreign Countries
    • Payments destined to the UK require a 6-digit sort code.
    • If USD payment is destined overseas you many input the CHIPS UID.
  • Inclusion of this ID will expedite your payment.
  • Maximum 35 characters*

Bank Name
  • Financial Institution where the Beneficiary’s account is held
  • Maximum 35 characters*
  • For TD Bank only, the Bank name will be automatically populated based on the transit number selection.

  • This is a predictive search field whereby as a User you can select the Beneficiary Bank country from a drop-down list.

Street
  • Specifies the street address of the Beneficiary Bank.
  • Based a predictive search field, you can enter the street address of the Beneficiary Bank and then select the address from a drop-down list of matching criteria for the following countries:
    • Canada
    • United States
    • United Kingdom
    • Hong Kong
    • India
  • Based on your selection, the full address will be automatically populated. For all other countries not listed above, you will need to manually enter the full address.
  • Maximum 35 characters*
Optional
City
  • Specifies the city of the Beneficiary Bank
  • Automatically populated based on the street selection above. For countries listed above, if applicable, the City will be automatically populated based on the Street selection. For all other countries, if applicable, you will need to manually enter the City.
  • Maximum 20 characters*

  • Automatically populated based on the street selection above. For countries listed above, if applicable, the Province/State will be automatically populated based on the Street selection. For all other countries, if applicable, you will need to manually enter the Province/State.

  • Specifies the postal/zip code for the Beneficiary Bank

Intermediary Bank Information

This information is no longer required as we will route the payment according to established correspondent banking relationships.

Step 5: Enter/Review Financial Details

Business Rules

  • Specifies the date of the debit to your company's settlement account

Calendar
  • Adds an entry to the Due Date field when you select a date on the calendar.
 
View Cutoff Table
  • The Cutoff Table displays all of TD's cutoff dates and times for payment processing, based on destination and currency. In order for a payment to be processed it must be fully authorized and forwarded to TD within the established cutoff times.

Business Rules

  • Specifies the currency of the payment
  • Includes all available currencies sorted in alphabetical order except CAD and USD currencies are displayed at the top.

Business Rules

  • Specifies the amount the beneficiary is to receive in the currency selected
  • Maximum 14 characters

    Note: Correspondent Banks and/or the Beneficiary Bank may charge for processing wire payments, and these other bank charges will be deducted from the payment amount. If required, include other bank charges in the Payment Amount.

Settlement Account
  • Specifies the company account from which the settlement amount will be debited
  • The dropdown will include only those accounts to which you have been assigned access

Exchange Rate
  • Specifies the rate used to convert the settlement amount (that will be paid by your company) into the payment amount (that will be received by the beneficiary).
Bulletin Rate:
  • When selected the appropriate Buy from TD rate will be used.

    Note: Any adjustments made to the rate at the time of processing will be detailed in the Audit Log.
Contract Rate:
  • When selected, the contract number and rate can be entered. You will need to contact your TD branch in order to receive a valid contract number and rate.
A foreign exchange contract is mandatory if the payment amount and currency entered exceeds the tiered limit on the Currency Rates Table. Otherwise, the bulletin rate will be the default.
Contract Number
  • Specifies the foreign exchange contract number provided by your TD branch at the time of booking a contract rate
  • Mandatory 7 characters

    Note: To ensure the contract number is 7 characters in length you may need to add leading zeros to the number provided.
Mandatory if a contract rate is used.
Rate
  • Specifies the contract rate booked with your TD branch
Mandatory if a contract rate is used
View Rates
  • Displays the Currency Rates Table which details the exchange rate for each currency
 
Your Reference
  • Allows you to enter a reference for the payment
  • Maximum 35 characters*
Optional if Payment to Customer

Reason for Wire Payment
  • Allows you to enter the reason for initiating your wire payment
  • 70 characters

    Note: In order for the Bank to process Wire Payments to certain countries, a reason for sending the payment must be provided.
Mandatory, if Payment is to a country listed on the following table. Wire Payments submitted with no reason provided where required may be delayed or returned.
Instructions For Beneficiary
  • Maximum 70 characters*
  • Maximum 60 characters* for On Behalf Of wire payments.


  • Note: If any Beneficiary details (for e.g. Beneficiary Address) exceed the character limit in their appropriate fields then the Instructions to Beneficiary field can be used to continue and complete the entry of information.
Optional
Instructions For TD Bank
  • It will slow down delivery of payment if used
  • Customers specifically instructed to use “Instructions to TD Bank” must continue to do so
  • Maximum 70 characters*
Not required
Note: Use this Field only if special handling is required and arrangement is in place such as Same-day Value Payment. Incorrect use of this field will cause manual intervention and delay payment execution.

Step 6: Review Payment Details in Full

TD will automatically populate the sender’s name and address based on the settlement account you select. Before the payment is submitted for authorization, you will be able to review the payment details in full to ensure no mistakes were entered. In addition to the fields already entered above, the following information is displayed:

Field Name Description
Payment ID A unique Web Business Banking identifier assigned to each payment.
TD Payment ID This field will display as 'unassigned' until the payment is sent to TD for processing, at which time the bank assigns a unique TD Host ID to the payment.
Value Date Displays the date on which the beneficiary is to receive the payment and is determined by the payment currency and destination which are detailed on the Cutoff Table.
Payment Must Be Sent to Bank Before Payments must be sent to TD by the date and time specified in the Cutoff Table in order to be processed.

All times are in Eastern time.

Payment Amount Specifies the amount the beneficiary is to receive in the currency selected. .
Settlement Amount/currency Displays the amount that will be debited from the settlement account.

The total amount is calculated using the rate specified for the payment.

Save As Template Launches the Save As Template page.

This button is only available if the payment has not been created from a template and you have been assigned the 'Create Payments' right.

Note: If you would like to print the On Behalf Of wire transaction details, then print at this step, as the On Behalf Of information will not be available on the Review/Print Confirmation Page.

Step 7: Review/Print Confirmation Page

The confirmation validates that the wire payment has been created successfully and summarizes the payment details in case you would like to print the confirmation for audit purposes.

Note: If the payment is an On Behalf Of wire payment, the On Behalf Of Information will not be available on the Review/Print Confirmation Page. To retain the On Behalf Of details for audit purposes, print the Review Payment Details in Full page.
